Kysuca is the main flow of the Kysuce region, which rises under the hill Hričovec and flows into the river Váh near the county town of Žilina. It is a river with a pebbly river and a wide valley. On the left side of the river there is the mountain range Turzovská vrchovina, Kysucké Beskydy and Kysucká vrchovina and along the right bank of the Javorníky mountain range. There are 13 larger tributaries flowing into the river, in Kysucky Lieskovec it is the river Lodňanka.
